cult failure
September 21st, 2008

I was sad to see the old Triumph motorcycle store on Sandy Boulevard emptied of its contents today. I spent a lot of time there last year photographing the place because I loved how densely and meticulously packed it was. The owner, Clif Mahjor, who was in his 80s had been there for decades. He was a really interesting and opinionated guy and I was glad to find out he had not passed away, but was just retiring. The neighbor told me Clif had sold the inventory off to a guy in Idaho and that it took six 18-wheeler trucks to clear the place out.
Here are some of my outtakes:

One of Megan’s amazing quilts turned up recently on the cover of the Portland Mercury. I thought it looked great.

I love the shadow on the bricks.

One of my photos made it into the Vice photo issue (and not in the dos and don’ts).

Another one of my photos gets the Megan Sullivan treatment/vast improvement. Check out the rest of her stuff here.
Incidentally, the ‘bottle blonde bitch’ still arouses neighborhood suspicion. My old neighbor (and sign creator, Harvey) accused the lady on 26th street of damaging a small tree in front of Jeremy’s house. Seriously, what is her fucking problem?
