So The Shins made a music video about my life in Portland. Why couldn’t it have been Glass Candy??!? Poor!

From my notebook: “John L. Childress, from East Tennessee, used to make Oscar statues in Los Angeles in the 1950s, fought in WWII.” Mr. Childress owns the trophy shop on Burnside Street in Portland. I wanted to photograph his store for years because peg board painted institutional green is one of my favorite sites in this world. I remember this morning so vividly because it’s when I decided to move back to NY and bought my one-way plane ticket.

Xmas eve.

Shopping at the re-opened Sav-A-Center on Carolton Blvd. in New Orleans and the new mural in front of the Mother-In-Law.

This series comes from last October when I had a photo at a show in Portland. I didn’t really know what to do with myself at the opening (it was kind of excruciating), so I set up my camera and took pictures of the people that came through. So it’s a mixture of my favorite people in the world, friends and then total strangers. It made the night a lot of fun, even though I don’t think I’d ever do it again.
This is the best movie I’ve seen all year, though I really enjoyed the new David Lynch film at the fancy IFC theater.

Couples who start to look alike… somewhere there’s a picture of us posing with our baby.

This novelty keychain shares six phrases from Ray Nagin, but takes the high road and omits the ‘chocolate city’ infamy. One of the sayings is ‘I am pissed!’. Is he really famous for saying that?
I turned my comments back on, so to kick things off, tell me what your six phrases would be if you were famous enough to be on a keychain. Lame?
