November 29th, 2005Check out the one that says “New Orleans TV”.

Here’s some pictures of New Orleans from the summer of 1992. I found these recently. This shows the ninth ward and the Bywater neighborhoods. I was talking to my mom tonight on the phone and she was telling me about a friend of hers who lived in Chalmette, a suburb of NO that experienced one the biggest oil spills in the history of the country due to the hurricane damage. This woman’s house, besides being under twelve feet of water, was also full of crude oil and she was only offered six thousand dollars by her insurance company. Six thousand dollars for her whole house. Sadly, this has become very common down there.

More scenic views of the Chinese Village. And since I’m on the subject, here’s something Jeremy got recently which blew my mind into a thousand pieces:

Not sure who these people are. I went to a party at the Eagle lodge on Saturday night for Jenny and Stephen’s kick ball teams. People shouldn’t leave their Polaroid pictures lying around, because I will snatch them. But I think these were abandoned, so I don’t feel guilty. I had a lot of fun, though it was totally different than any other time I’ve been to that lodge because instead of being a boozy rummage sale, it was like the high school reunion/frat party blowout I’d never been to. There were still lesbians making out and lots of weird characters, so it wasn’t totally alien. There was a lottery scratch card on the table we were sitting at and Katherine dared Jenny to run around the place waving the ticket screaming, ‘I’ve won! I’ve won!’ I thought it was brilliant. But in the general crush of people, I don’t think anybody noticed.
Another day of no pictures. Sucks. But I have big plans to do a lot of shooting this weekend despite the forecast of procrastination with a chance of pizza. Until then, chew on this: The Portland Grid Project.
